What are the main differences between GH 688 and GA 628?
These two phones are aimed at people with different needs and requirements. The GA 628 is a colorful personal phone that is extremely easy to use. Most importantly, the GA 628 is the only Ericsson phone with a front panel that you can change to any of the 15 colorful fashion panels available. If you want an expressive phone that is true value for money with Ericsson's unique quality stamp, the individuality of the GA 628 will suit you. The GA 628 has a smaller display than the GH 688, it stores 50 names and numbers compared to 99 on the GH 688 and has a rubber instead of a hardtop keypad.

What are the main differences between the GH 688 and the GH 388?
The GH 688 is the successor of GH 388 and it is a new advanced feature-packed phone for the demanding user: The GH 688 has almost the same shape as the older GH 388, but it's smoother and rounder and has a display that is 40 per cent larger. The GH 688 is slimmer, lighter, and with better standby time. There are lots of new and improved features, just to mention a few: the GH 688 is one of the first GSM phones to be type approved for phase 2, it allows conference calls for up to 6 people, it has fixed dialing numbers so that no other numbers than the ones you have approved can be dialed, and it can transfer calls for you.

Can I use my GH 388 accessories with the GH 688?
No, the GH 688 has new 4 volt electronics, not 5 volts as the former models have, and this requires a new range of batteries as well as other accessories. The phone's bottom system connector is modified to fit with the new accessories' smaller connector plugs.

Does the GH 688 handle 3 volt SIM cards?
Yes, it handles both 3 volt and 5 volt SIM cards

Is the GH 688 a GSM 900 phase 2 phone?
Yes. The recommendations from ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) for GSM 900 phase 1 and 2 concern signaling, services and type approval. GH 688 is one of the first to be fully type approved as a GSM 900 phase 2 phone and supports most of the features specified for phase 2, including caller identification, advice of charge, conference calls, call transfer and call hold/wait. Some of the services specified for phase 2 are not implemented in all networks. The GH 688 handles both 5 volt SIM cards and the 3 volt SIM cards specified for
   phase 2.

Can I check how much money I've spent on calls with the GH 688?
Yes. The GH 688 supports the advice of charge service. The old GH 388 supports this too but only allows you to see how much money you have spent on a call. The GH 688 also allows you to start with a pre-defined amount of money and make calls for as long as this amount permits. When there is no money left, you have to set a new amount before calls can be made. This is a good way of controlling your call costs. It requires network support and you must subscribe to the service. Ask your network operator formore information.

Can I restrict dialing from my phone so that only certain numbers can be dialed?
Yes. The GH 688 supports the GSM 900 service fixed dialing numbers. You must subscribe to this service. Ask your network operator for more information.

Can I send data/fax with the GH 688?
Yes. The GH 688 is excellent for both messaging (SMS), data and fax transmissions. The transmission speed is 9.6 kbps, this is the GSM 900 standard and valid for all GSM 900 phones, however, our Mobile Office DC 23 v4 that can be used with the GH 688 supports an advanced compression protocol that enables you to get higher throughput.
